"We ordered a custom sliding screen door from Chalet Screens recently. Sliding screen doors are a lost art in Seattle and there aren't many retailers that sell custom ones in the area. Unfortunately, every patio door is different so most likely you’ll need to order a custom one from somewhere.
I contacted Patricia through Yelp and she replied very promptly with all the options for sliding screen doors. At first I went into the store and thought I could just buy a standard sliding screen door, but I found out that you need to measure your door space in order to purchase the correct screen door. So I went home empty-handed that day and received directions on how to measure the sliding screen door space.
We measured maybe over 10 times in order to have the correct measurement and then called in the height and width of the space to order the screen door. The screen door was ready within two weeks. We also made sure to get ‘Pet Mesh’ for our screen door so that our dog wouldn't be able to break it easily. It isn't very easy to install a screen door but you can look at YouTube videos. Patricia emphasized that it isn't very intuitive to install the door and basically you have to install it from the top and pop it in with a putty knife (maybe even butter knife) on the bottom.
Unfortunately, we measured a little too tight so our screen door is now a screen wall, which is fine since it's for a door we don't use that often. I didn't get a high-end screen door because I didn't want to spend more money on a wrong-sized screen door. I want to emphasize that the customer service was excellent! For my next screen door, I know now the correct size and will order the higher end door from Chalet Screens!"
